Frioland
Hike & fly launch
This hike starting from Chedde is part of the now-legendary Fly In Fiz, our hike-and-fly competition.
Starting from the bottom, you’ll be in for 1,200 m of elevation gain.
Don’t worry though — you can also start higher up and only hike 600 m!
Hike
The first part of the climb is pleasant and shaded in the forest. Then, around 1,300 m—above the Charbonnière chalets—you leave the trees and tackle the final section, which is fairly steep and fully exposed to the sun.
Starting from the Praz-Coutant parking, you follow a 4x4 track up to the Charbonnière chalets.
The take-off
A wide grassy slope above the windsock allows several wings to be laid out one behind the other. The slope isn’t very steep, so you’ll need to run a bit!
The flight
As soon as you leave the launch, you’ll see the Chedde landing straight ahead. You can follow the cliffs between Varan and Frioland, but be careful — in spring some thermals can be strong, especially above the Curalla chalets.
